November 2023: A new chapter for Adin Dom
Crossing fingers that with some luck a new chapter of Adin Dom Kennel‘s history has been started in beautiful Toscana. We are over the moon to have found an exceptional male for our Elin.
With this combination of two health-tested great hunters who prove their traits and work ability regularly in revier we expect highly promising Spinone Italiano pups with great noses, working abilities, balanced characters and great form (both parents are champions).
More info to follow soon!
P.s.: The flashlight is a bit misleading, but handsome Ugo is brown roan which means we could get pups in all colors.
October 2023: Modelling girls
The ability to be motivated, hold positions and be open and friendly is crucial for dog models - our pack is booked frequently for different jobs. This time the mother-daughter duo Vigga and Brynja worked for TRIXIE.
9.9.2023: Brynja shows her great traits at HZP
Totally flashed - and grateful to have a dog like that: Our Brynja Adin Dom startet at HZP in Germany and proved her amazing trais: Despite hot 30 degrees Celsius she brought all her passion and skills to the fields and water gaining all 11s on the natural traits subjects - and even a 12 behind living duck thus finishing the trial with 196 points .
August 2023: Hunting Velebit
A wise man (Franci Strajnar - Andreja`s dad and founder of the Adin Dom Kennel) once said: Every DK should have his first real point before six months of age. He for sure would be proud of our Cuba, who did her first points (on smell) on field quails up the hills of Velebit with just 3.5 months. Also the rest of the pack and we enjoyed hunting above the Adriatic Sea in this sacred place close to our hearts!
23.07.2023: Vigga earns VSwP 40h/1a prize
Drumroll - we proudly present the first Adin Dom dog with a „Verbandsschweissprüfung 40 Stunden“ (blood tracking exam by German JGHV, length at least 1000 meters, standing time at least 40 hours).
The conditions were far from perfect with pouring rain for the last days and all the time when the tracks had been laid. But again the rule - trust the dog, it knows its job - proved right: Despite the fact that her handler found no blood and only the „Anschuss“ and one „Verweiserpunkt“ due to the included hair (all rest had been washed away), our Vigga brought her safely to the piece at the end of the track - coping even with a roe deer which jumped 15 meters in front of her over the track. The judges praised Viggas excellent nose and focus, precise work, ability to correct herself and the amazing teamwork with her handler.
That’s why she didn’t only pass in first prize but also won this trial in a prestigious revier with lots of red, roe and fallow deer.
Hot news from the European Dog Show in Herning/Denmark: Our little one Brynja drove up north to present Adin Dom among the Creme de la Creme of the Show world - although we are not really part of that scene as we prefer hunting with our dogs. So the goal was not to be the last and possibly get the grade excellent.
In a very strong competition of Junior females (on both days the class with the most entered dogs of the breed) and with judges who gave „very good“ often, she managed to get placed every day and even got the Danish specialty of „Champion Quality“ for dogs of extraordinary quality which allowed her as a junior dog to run in the ring for best female where she even got placed:
Day 1:
Excellent 2 / Champion Quality- Reserve Junior Winner / Reserve Cart - 4th best female of all
Day 2:
Excellent 4
We saw this as a great experience like taking part in the Olympics where to be part of it counts and never imagined to be graded so highly.
Thank you so much to the honorable judges Michael Leonard and Wenche Eikeseth for valuing Brynja so highly and to our great Pia Grm Urbancic who handled her the second day.
Say hi to the seven dwarfs - this time without the snowwhite - all pups are brown with very nice pigment. With birth weights of above 500g it was quite some work for our Trisha, but she managed and is such a perfect mama again. We have 5 girls and 2 boys. According to reservations made before, all pups of this Trisha-Dorian-combination are promised.
8 little snowflakes have arrived - 5 boys and 3 girls - all strong and agile. They basically have the same weight like little DK pups - just Dorli weighs usually only 15 kg. What a task - but she managed perfectly and her maternal instincts are amazing.
This is our first non-DK litter in over 50 years of Adin Dom history, and we are proud and honored to be able to contribute to the progress of the rare breed of the Wirehaired Istrian Hound (worldwide only around 800 dogs exist).
Over the moon with the youth search results of our B II-Litter: ALL 7 pups who were still so little on the left pic have now participated in the first trial showing their natural traits - a very important indicator for a breeder. All seven received highest marks and many times became best dogs of the specific Derby/VJP. Grateful to have found amazing owners who let them develop and prove their potential - you are the best! For detailed results, please check the "Past Litters" page!
Drumroll: We proudly present: Adin Dom’s very first International Junior Champion (CIB.J) -
to be confirmed by FCI.
With this weekend’s winning of Exc1/J.CAC/J.CACIB and BOB plus the title of „Junior Spring Winner 2023“ at the International Dog Shows in Gradacac (BIH), our Brynja Adin Dom (13 months) collected the last J.CACIB under different judges in three different FCI member countries thus qualifying for this prestigious new title of Int.Ch.J. Thank you to all involved in this project - especially Pia Grm Urbančič who handles our dogs in the show ring when there is a chance - and to all honorable judges for evaluating our Brynja so highly!
With the proud age of 14.5 years, our Nala is the grand dame of our pack. We were very grateful when she was chosen for a project portraying older dogs in their former field or work by well-known photographer Inga Haase. Nala was sooo happy to put on her equipment again. Although she has some probs with running/her spine, she nearly flew through the forest again. We will treasure these special pics forever!
Beauty and brains - our Brynja has it all. In a challenging trial with loads of game, she was able to perform on a constant level demonstrating her great traits, gaining all 4s and and thus becoming best dog of the trial.
Thank you to the club DK Weser Bremen and to the judges for a perfectly organized Derby - and to the owner of revier (Niederwild Testrevier) for giving us the opportunity!
Exciting times for our kennel: With some luck, our C II-Litter of DK Leistungszucht is in the making. We repeated the mating with our Trisha Adin Dom and Dorian von den Donaumündungen as we were very pleased with the pups after them.
Also, we have a very first: We hope for "little snowballs" - the first litter which is not Deutsch Kurzhaar as we mated our Wirehaired Istrian Hound Dorli with a very promising male and hope to contribute to the development of this rare breed.
We will post more info soon. If you are interested in these combinations, please contact us soon as we have quite some reservations already.
With just 10 months of age, Brynja landed her first job as a model featuring products from the Slovene dog brand Macrocanario. Everyone was stunned how she played with the camera lense and acted like a pro - focused, motivated and calm. Of course she earned herself some yummy treats! Very proud!
We proudly present:
Aust Ch Ulana Adin Dom NRD NRA
Downunder the requirements to obtain a Champion title are a bit stricter: A dog has to collect 100 points at shows (for the BOB you gain 5 points for example). So we are over the moon that Ulana has achieved this.
In the words of the judges: the VGP of a lifetime!
Zarja started at the VGP from Klub DK Hubertus Hannover around Lauenburg in north Germany: Two days in amazing forest, water and field reviers with helpful co-starters in a family-like atmosphere with fair judges and great organization - and most of all loads of game (deer, rabbit, pheasants, partridges and geese).
Sometimes just all works smoothly and perfectly - and like this Zarja managed to achieve 332 points with 4x4h (search without duck, nose, field search and pointing) and won the Suchensieg.
The youngsters from our A II-litter made their owners proud: Ava and Amos (pictured) achieved full points (194) at their JZP/HZP, their sister Allis even gained 196. Also Aya (178 points), Akira (168 points), Arik (Derby 2) and Ajda (BP A-D) were successful.
Huge congrats to all!
Our little exot is not so little anymore but a beautiful female who stuns everyone with her open, friendly character. We are over the moon that Elin did further steps on her way rocking her autumn trial JZP/HZP gaining 195 points. Also, she received her health results:
She has perfect hips, elbows and shoulders!
Not only our dogs love and enjoy our yearly holidays on Velebit plateau in Croatia: The first moment we drive up the serpentines and smell the fresh air filled with natural herbs scent and look down on the Adriatic Sea, we feel home. Old dogs are already proffessionals in hunting field quails, young ones were trained on the agile small birds. For our youngsters, it was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their natural pointing traits and excellent noses. Happy that Blue and her family joined us!
Thank you Bojan and Iga for even more memories!
Our Vigga started at the prestigious „Verbandsschweissprüfung“ (overnight track of 1000 meters, standing time at least 20 hours) of the German JGHV (national hunting dog organization). Despite harsh conditions of hotness and especially dryness, she found the „Anschuss“ (point where the piece was shot) and led her handler safely to the roe deer at the end of the track. The team passed in 1st prize as the only team in this prize category and thus became the winner of the trial. They were especially praised for their team work!
Great news from Germany: Our Velia WENDY Adin Dom and her owner passed the state exam for blood tracking including all obedience subjects in Brandenburg with flying colors. They are a real versatile team: from duck hunts over searching for wild boar cadavers infected with African Swine Fever to tracing the track of wounded game. We are extremely proud of you, Frank and Wendy - very well done!
For her four month-birthday, our Brynja got a photo shoot with dear Dana Geithner who has been following our dogs for years already. For now, we are very pleased how Brynja is developing - she is for sure not a pup anymore!
So it has been decided: Brynja Adin Dom will be the new member of our pack and stay with us. She is very special not only due to her unique coloring, but also with her amazing character being a calm, very self-confident pup with great traits. Welcome little one! BTW - Brynja matches her mommas and grannies Viking names as her name means "armour/shielding" in old norsk language.
What an achievement: Being the "exot" of the trial, our Spinone Italiano Elin zum Segeberger Forst rocked the youth test of German Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband Sachsen. As the only dog out of 16 at the exam, she managed to receive a 4h/excellent for pointing and passed this rigorous trial with flying colors.
Our dogs have already modelled for the German brand WOLTERS cat & dog. We are happy that they were booked again to present the new collection - their pics will be visible all over Europe in advertsisings. Also, you can see some on the Website of WOLTERS.
What a great momma we have: Vigga gave birth to seven beautiful pups (four girls/three boys) totally easily like a pro. We have two solid brown boys who have their mom`s darkbrown pigment and five brown-roans with quite some white. Grateful and proud that all went so smoothly!
Sister Act: Both Reena and Rune are certified mission search dogs for finding wild boar cadavers fighting the spread of the African Swine Fever. Side by side they were employed and covered vast areas in Brandenburg/Germany at the end of this year. The two sisters were very successful: Both located and indicated cadavers and were praised a lot for their work. Good girls!
We are over the moon about this combination: Hopfeully our B-II-Litter is on its way with puppies due beginning of March. The parents are our Vigga Adin Dom and Dino von der Eickser Höhe.
"Dont you think that you can win trials with this exotic hound" - we were told when we got Dorli. Well, our Istrian hound obviously didn´t listen, because at the "Anlagenprüfung für Bracken" she again proved her great hunting traits. Not only did she pass the trial with maximum points - she also became the winner of the exam out of 16 dogs who participated.
Just some weeks after this success, her form evaluation of excellent was confirmed by the breeding committee and Dorli was given an unconditional breeding license. Proud of our little exot!
Brain and beauty - this girl really has it all: After winning the Zuchtschau of the German DK Verband and gaining her Slovene Champion title in the summer, Vigga dominated the VGP, the highest versatile hunting exam in Germany. She got the highest grade 4 in every single one of the over 30 subjects thus passing this rigorous trial with maximum points as "Suchensieger".
If someone would have told us that we would own a Spinone Italiano one day, we for sure would have said that one is nuts. But this girl was just meant to be ours - stemming from very successful working and show lines from Great Britain and Germany. "Famose Elin zum Segeberger Forst" is part of our pack now, and we are all amazed by her natural instincts, working abilities, form and most of all her happy and self-confident character. Can`t wait to see what the future will bring for our "little Spaghetti" ;-).
What a successful month for the Adin Dom family:
The start made our Reena with Andreja who - after an intense training period in the northeast of Germany - became a certified mission cadaver search dog team against the African Sine Fever passing the rigorous exam in Brandenburg like her sister Rune four months before.
Just two days later, Reenas daughter Zarja successfully passed the Solms with living duck at the DK Klub Sachsen gaining the highest mark 4 in every subject and becoming the best female of the trial. Just some weeks later, she managed to gain her Slovene Champion title in a very short time.
Also our Vigga rocked the ring at a special Zuchtschau of DK Verband in Germany. In a big class of 10 females at DK Hubertus Hannover, only three times "excellent" was given: Vigga not only managed to be one of them, but in the final ring she was also placed first winning the V1 at the Zuchtschau of DK Hubertus Hannover.
So within 2 weeks, the two breeding females of our two different Adin Dom breeding lines at shows of two German DK Klubs and under different judges had the honor to receive the V1 in Altersklasse.
After cancellation of IKP 2021 and the lost chance to get a form evaluation by German breed judges, we entered our Trisha at the Zuchtschau of DK Westküste so that her pups will have the opportunity to go to Kleemann. Since only 12 weeks had passed since the birth of her and Dorians pups, we just hoped that her Slovene form evaluation of "excellent" would be confirmed. Well - this girl had higher goals.
In a very strong Altersklasse of 15 females, Trisha was placed first winning the V1.
In the east of Germany, the African Swine Fever is spreading. Officials search for talented dogs with great stamina, search and nose ability to be employed as cadaver search dogs in the affected areas. As her daughter Velia Wendy is already certified in the hands of the trainer in Brandenburg, also our Rune went through the rigorous and demanding training. After just six weeks, she passed the exam organized by the state government of Brandenburg and now is a certified cadaver mission search dog.
In our eyes, Dorli is the most beautiful Istrian girl - but now that has officially been confirmed ;-):
At the form evaluation, she received the grade "excellent".
In addition, she rocked the show ring at CACIB Chemnitz winning the CAC, CACIB and BOB.
What to do when you have small puppies at home and trials are far away? Well, you just ask a good friend and excellent handler to do the job - and all turns out just perfect :-): Thank you dear Katarina who managed to form the team with Zarja in less than two weeks and achieve a perfect score of 55/55 points at VJP and a Derby 1st prize.
Many trials have been cancelled, but luckily the reliable bringing exam (BTR) in Germany was held. Our Vigga found and delivered the fox the fastest from the dogs participating thus winning this demanding trial.
Trisha took her time, but all went smoothly and our A II-litter with ten pups (3 males/7 females) was born - we have many brownies but also some white and brown-roans. We are very happy that they all have already found excellent new owners where they will hunt and be part of the family. Some will stay here in Slovenia and some will go abroad again.
The search for the "perfect male" for our Trisha has brought us to Dorian von den Donaumündungen, an exceptional male and winner of the IKP 2019. If all goes smoothly, we expect puppies at the middle of March. To find our more about this highly promising combination of outstanding lines in "jagdlicher Leistungszucht" (parents and ancestors have all trials up to VGP), look here.
What an honor: Last winter, our friend Ilka Pedersen took a picture of our Rune doing the apport of a hare at a winter hunt.
This pic was chosen to appear on the cover of the "Jagdgebrauchshund", the official magazine of the German JGHV (Jagdgebrauchshundverband).
